American pastor John MacArthur will take a few weeks off after undergoing a procedure to clear some blockage in is arteries.
The 83-year-old had become unwell earlier this month while delivering a sermon at Grace Community Church.
Following the event, the Grace Community Church told congregants Pastor MacArthur was “doing well” and only needed “rest from a busy holiday week”.
However, the church has now issued a new statement sharing Pastor MacArthur had undergone a procedure in his arteries and as a result, will take some weeks off.
It read: “Thank you for praying for Pastor John over the last two weeks. After a week of tests, the doctors determined that a procedure was needed to clear some blockage in his arteries. That procedure took place earlier this week and was very successful.
“Our pastor is recovering at home and is doing well. He will take the next few weeks off from preaching to recover and to prepare for Shepherds Conference.
“God has answered our prayers and we can add to those prayers thanksgiving that his situation was identified and resolved. Our pastor is feeling better and is grateful for the opportunity to rest in the coming weeks.”
John MacArthur’s sermons are regularly broadcast worldwide, including on Premier Christian Radio.
