Veteran Pentecostal evangelist Jimmy Swaggart remains hospitalized in critical condition after suffering a severe heart attack, according to family members.
His family has said there has been “no change” since the 90-year-old was found unconscious last week and admitted to intensive care.
His son, Donnie Swaggart, told the Family Worship Center in Baton Rouge that he and his son discovered Jimmy unresponsive.
Speaking at a recent service—later posted to the church's Facebook page—Donnie said, “We do not question God, we do not blame God, we do not argue with God. We always want God to do things immediately and on our schedule. But God's ways are not our ways.”
A post on Swaggart’s official Facebook page asked supporters to “continue to lift him up in prayer and believe God for a miracle, but above all, we trust in the Lord's perfect will.”
Jimmy Swaggart rose to prominence in the 1980s as a preacher, musician, and broadcaster, before a 1988 scandal led to his defrocking by the Assemblies of God.
He later founded the SonLife Broadcasting Network, which continues to reach audiences around the world.
Supporters are being urged to pray as the family remains in what Donnie described as a “holding pattern.”
