A Christian lawyer who was born in Iran has told Premier of her “joy” that action is being taken to topple the regime in her home country. Attieh Fard said it’s a “historic moment” that will unfold “in God’s time” adding that she and her fellow Iranians “walk with God, who is a God of justice.”
Rather than regarding the military action as a “war” she said Iranians opposed to the regime are relieved about the US and Israeli intervention and see it as a “rescue mission”.
The lawyer, who last week organised a letter signed by over 200 pastors, church ministers, and leaders of Christian organisations from around the world calling for regime change in Iran.
Expressing hope that this moment is now near, Attieh Fard said Christians she knows inside Iran have been told to stay indoors and remain calm while the military action unfolds. But despite an internet blackout, many are able to access information and relay messages via satellite. The exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi is also believed to have started a satellite TV service and is going to make announcements about when it is safe for people to go out and regain control.
Attieh Fard said: “I believe in God's time. He is in control and he has been speaking to Christians with love through words and visions. One of our church leaders said this is reflected by the Bible chapter from Zephaniah 3:17 – ‘the Lord God is with you, the mighty warrior who saves you. …I'll deal with all who oppressed you. I will rescue the lame. I will gather the exiles. I will give them praise and honour in every land where they have suffered shame. At that time, I will gather you and bring you home.’
“I believe this speaks with the heart of thousands and thousands of Iranians who are in exile and also inside Iran, who have suffered oppression, who have suffered shame.
“We walk with God, and we trust to God’s plan”.
