IHOPKC: Bob Hartley blocked from prayer room as investigations continue into abuse claims

by Heather Preston

Another former International House of Prayer Kansas City (IHOPKC) leader facing allegations of misconduct has been denied access to the Church’s prayer room while an investigation into the movement continues.

Eric Volz, a spokesperson for IHOPKC made the announcement on X on Tuesday, about Bob Hartley.

“Based on information we have been presented and verified, Mr. Hartley has been informed he will no longer be permitted access to the IHOPKC Prayer Room. We can also confirm he is not on staff at IHOPKC, nor is he a congregant of Forerunner Church.”

Allegations against the leader began to surface amidst controversy around Mike Bickle – the founder of IHOPKC – with whom the organisation has since cut ties following accusations of sexual misconduct.

An independent investigation into the organisation was launched last year.

As alleged victims have come forward to speak out against Bickle, Hartley has also come under fire facing various accusations of misconduct.

On Sunday, Volz announced that the independent investigation had found that previous reports of misconduct within IHOPKC “were likely not handled properly.”

In response to these findings, the movement has pledged to change its policies and structures “to ensure that IHOPKC does not travel down this difficult road again.”

Some X users have called for the organisation to issue a “full apology” for not taking swifter action regarding previous reports of misconduct.
