Husband 'prayed' Lynda Bellingham would see Christmas

Her agent, Sue Latimer, said the 66-year-old passed away yesterday "in her husband's arms".

The star had spoken shortly before her death, saying she would like to see one last Christmas with her family.

Her husband Michael Pattemore had said that he prayed this would be the case.

In an interview with Yours magazine, he said: "The only thing that's giving me comfort is that Lynda is very much at peace with everything; we've managed to sort everything out. I just pray to God she gets to see Christmas Day again. It's what she wants."

Lynda Bellingham was perhaps best known for her role as the mother in the Oxo adverts.

She was also a panellist for ITV's Loose Women, which will show a farewell programme on Wednesday.

The actress said she had decided to end her treatment on August 13 to limit the amount of suffering her family would witness.

In a statement given on behalf of Bellingham's family, Ms Latimer said: "Lynda died peacefully in her husband's arms yesterday evening at a London hospital. Her family, to whom she was devoted, would like to thank the nurses and staff for their tremendous care and support.

"As an actor, writer and presenter, Lynda was a consummate professional to the very end.

"Those of us privileged to have known her personally will miss the entertaining, life-enhancing, true and honest friend that blessed our lives."
