Human rights group criticise British Army over teen recruits

The Ex-President of the Armed Forces Christian Union has spoken out over criticism of the British Army for enlisting under 18 year-olds.

Britain is currently the only country in the European Union to recruit soldiers at 16 years old.

The human rights group Forces Watch has called for the starting age to be raised to 18, arguing that younger soldiers are more likely to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

However, the Ministry of Defence says it has no plans to revise it's recruitment police.

Tim Cross is a Retired Major General and Ex President of the Armed Forces Christian Union.

He told Premier's News Hour it's a complex issue.
