'Hannah is waking up': Sister of Christian woman in coma says she's going from strength to strength

by Chantalle Edmunds

A young Christian woman from Bath who suffered a brain haemorrhage is showing signs of waking from her coma.

Doctors had told the family of Hannah Montagu, 22, that she had just days to show improvement following the haemorrhage on January 10, otherwise they would start end of life care.

However, she has shown continued progress and on Valentine's Day her sister Abbie Young took to Instagram to post a photo of Hannah along with an update.

"Isn’t she just so beautiful. She’s doing so well, the physios said to us a few weeks ago to prepare for the marathon not the sprint but the past week we have seen Hannah go from strength to strength daily. She’s now squeezing hands on demand, swallowing well and having longer times with the cuff down on her tracheostomy. She’s running this race set before her with God's strength in her body. She’s brilliant. We are seeing more life in her and we are so thankful.

"Hope is purifying our lives and filtering faith into every aspect. Hannah is waking up. God is hearing every prayer, the fragrance of prayer and praise is strong and we believe he is moving mountains for Hannah. He loves her more than any of us and he cares deeply. What a friend we have in Jesus as we know he is with her. Honestly have never felt so overwhelmed by God's goodness in the midst of such a storm. He is good and he is faithful and I just truly believe Hannah is going to be fully healed. Please keep praying with us, it’s a powerful weapon and worship with us while we wait and then forever after. He is so good. Wake up my BEAUTIFUL sister," she wrote.

Earlier in the week Abbie posted further signs of Hannah's recovery:

"She has the most incredible team working on her with the deepest care for her. So amazed and thankful for the NHS. Today Hannah is having a small operation to give her a feeding tube directly into her stomach to make it more comfortable and easier to give her all the nutrients she needs so pray for protection over her. All these things are what we have been praying for and God is so evidently moving in Hannah and even turning heads. She’s known as the girl who people are praying for but she will soon be known as the girl who was miraculously healed. God is so faithful and so kind his mercies are new every morning and today is going to be a good day for Hannah because she’s in the hands of a great God."

Soon after Hannah was hospitalized, a 24/7 prayer rota was set up, which has continued to attract Christians, from far and wide. On January 22, Abbie told Premier that Hannah was shrouded in prayer.

"We counted around 40 different countries are praying, which is as much as we know, we think there could be many more praying across the Globe. We've had people come on the Zoom from Germany, from Ghana, and we've had people come and share their testament of similar things happening and being healed. So, it's so encouraging. It's just so encouraging," she said.
