Tens of thousands should have been lining up to take on the London marathon on Sunday.

With the famous race postponed, organisers have encouraged people to take on endurance challenge and fund raise to cover the millions of pounds charities would have normally received.

They've launched the 2.6 challenge which involves doing an activity, such as a run, walk or exercise, for something related to the number 26 which is the number of miles in the London Marathon.

Steve Chalke, the church leader and charity boss is running round his local park for 2.6 hours as he raises money for the Oasis Charitable Trust.

"Running round the part 2.6 times would have been too easy so i'm running for 2.6 hours which will be well over a half marathon," he told Premier. "Every penny will go to our communities, emergency meals and everything else we're doing for families that need us to stand up for them at this moment."

A team from St Paul's Church in Ealing are taking part in a 26 hour relay in which those taking part are hoping to raise £2,600 for Age UK Ealing by running 260km collectively.

Speaking to Premier, Jonno Owens from the group said: "We can't be close to our local community at the moment, but hopefully this is one way we can serve them."

Worship leader Graham Kendrick was inspired to do something after hearing of the rise in need at his local foodbank.

Speaking to Premier, he said: "I was thinking 'what can I do?'

"I write songs, so maybe I could write a song that might help raise some money.

"I had the line 'a little bit of love goes a long way', I sat down and wrote the song in an afternoon."

He's hoping the song will inspire those in their endurance activities or lead to alternative fundraising.

"People can do their own version, people could have it in the background while they're doing something to raise money, they could sing it to someone down the phone - basically blag your way to getting some money for your local charity."
