Christian MP Stephen Timms failed in his attempts to determine whether a new faith minister has been appointed following Kemi Badenoch's resignation earlier this month.
In a written question, the Labour MP for East Ham asked the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, which minister in that department is responsible for faith community engagement.
The newly appointed minister Paul Scully replied: "As with all departmental business, the Secretary of State maintains overall responsibility for the work of the department, and I support the Secretary of State on faith community engagement."
Former faith minister Kemi Badenoch left the post as part of the many MPs who resigned in protest of Boris Johnson's leadership. She assumed the role in 2021 following a government reshuffle.
Following Boris Johnson's resignation, Badenoch announced she was running for the party leadership, arguing she wanted to "set us free by telling people the truth".
The 42-year-old was eliminated in the fourth round of the leadership contest vote with 59 votes.
A spokesman for Ms Badenoch said: "This is a great achievement and demonstrates the support for her honest politics and vision of change for the country and the Conservative Party."
