Alex Cunningham's speaking as politicians spend today and tomorrow debating on a bill which, if passed, would allow the government to trigger Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, legally beginning the UK's process of leaving the EU and talks with Brussels.
The bill permitting the invokation of Article 50 is expected to pass, however it then goes onto committee stage where various parties will propose amendments to it.
The SNP alone has tabled dozens of them and there have also been suggestions that another referendum should be held on whether Britain should leave the European Single Market free trade zone.
The Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, David Davis, told MPs on Tuesday that they should "trust the people" and support the bill, adding that the "point of no return" had already passed on Brexit.
Alex Cunningham told Premier: "We're looking at everything from access to markets all the way through to workers' rights and even environmental issues.
"There's so many different areas and that's why we need much more time than the government is actually giving us. We're not going to have the opportunity to nail a lot of the things that we think the government should be negotiating on.
"They also need to listen to Parliament. We're elected by the people, we're here to represent them to the best of our ability."
