Two artists at last night's Brit awards put God centre-stage as they accepted their awards at the ceremony in London.

Rappers Little Simz and Dave both took the opportunity at one of the world’s biggest music events, to give thanks and appreciation to the Father.

Accepting his award for Best Hip Hop Grime Act, Dave said: “First of all I just want to thank God first and foremost for this. For the last couple of years I want to thank God, I want to dedicate everything to him, I appreciate it….I want to say Glory be to God.”

The 23 year old, who’s real name is David Omoregie, grew up in London. His father, Frank was a clergyman who volunteered at a church in London’s financial centre. He was deported to Nigeria for visa issues in 1998, when Dave was four months old.

Little Simz who was voted Best New Artist, collected the award with her mother beside her while saying 'Thank You to God.' 

Accepting her first Brit award, the 27 year old who’s real name is Simbiatu Ajikawo explained that she grew up on a council estate in London: "I am living proof that if you work hard at something, no matter where you come from, no matter your background, no matter your race, you can do something extraordinary."

Other winners at the event at the 02 arena were Adele, who picked up prizes for Best Song, Album and Artist of the Year, Sam Fender, Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish.
