Evangelist Franklin Graham, son of the late Billy Graham and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse, shared his thoughts on what issues President Donald Trump may focus on if he wins a second term.
He told The Christian Post that while abortion remains a key issue for many pro-life advocates, he does not believe it will be a top priority for Trump, citing the president's successful appointment of Supreme Court justices who helped overturn Roe v. Wade.
Graham expressed that Trump has already fulfilled his promise to address abortion at the national level by reshaping the Supreme Court, which now allows states to decide abortion laws.
"We've had lots of presidents who promised to overturn Roe v. Wade, and he's the only one to do it," he told the outlet, emphasising Trump's achievement in fulfilling his commitment.
Despite criticism from pro-life leaders over Trump’s reluctance to support a federal abortion ban during his 2024 presidential campaign, Graham remains confident in Trump’s overall pro-life stance.
He believes the former president's administration will shift focus to other pressing issues, including the economy and national security, rather than continuing to push abortion legislation.
"Abortion is not going to be his priority during this administration," Graham stated. "I think he's going to focus on other issues."
This perspective aligns with Trump’s broader campaign agenda, which has placed significant emphasis on economic recovery and strengthening national security, areas Graham believes resonate with American voters.
Graham also reflected on Trump’s first term, noting that voters rejected the policies of the Democratic Party, which, according to Graham, led to higher taxes and economic instability.
"No one is going to be totally happy with everything [Trump] does," Graham acknowledged. "But I think you have to look at the whole thing. Is our country going to move forward? Is it going to move backward?"
At Trump’s inauguration, Graham offered a prayer, asking God to grant wisdom and strength to the president.
He also prayed for Vice President J.D. Vance, who is set to speak at the 2025 March for Life, and for First Lady Melania Trump, praising her as a source of inspiration.
Graham closed his invocation with a prayer to Jesus Christ, asking for blessings on the nation and its leaders.
