Franklin Graham: Pray for ‘army of volunteers’ after Hurricane Milton

by Anna Rees Green

Franklin Graham has urged Christians to pray for Samaritan’s Purse volunteers assisting in the clean-up effort after Hurricane Milton.

Graham is CEO of the relief charity, which is providing assistance to people who have lost their homes and have no access to a water supply or electricity.

He told Premier Christian Radio: “You can't just hop in your car and start driving the minute the storm passes, because the roads are blocked with power lines and trees and so forth.

“We've used helicopters to go into these remote communities that have been cut off. We take water, we take food, we take medicines and fuel.

“Elon Musk has given us Starlinks. We've been taking those Starlinks in and setting those up so they get back on communication. We do that at fire stations and churches, taking generators.”

Franklin Graham told Premier: "Volunteering gives us an opportunity to tell everyone we help about a God that loves them and cares for them."

It is estimated that 16 people have died so far in Hurricane Milton. It made landfall in Tampa, Florida less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene wreaked destruction on Florida, Georgia and North and South Carolina.

Franklin Graham urged Premier: “Pray for the volunteers. We have an army of volunteers. These are men and women who stop what they're doing, pay their own expenses and then come work.

“This is not easy work. It's hot, it's muggy, and high humidity. You're picking up logs and helping to carry away debris and using a chainsaw.

“Pray for them and but pray that God will bring us more we need more volunteers. We're going to need them for months to come - not just while this is in the headlines. We're going to need this kind of help weeks and months from now.”
