Franklin Graham prayed “that President Trump will win this election” at a recent gathering of church leaders.
Speaking at the 11th Hour Faith Leaders Meeting in North Carolina, the son of the prominent evangelist Billy Graham declared: “President Trump holds the greatest rallies. No one in the history of the United States has put on rallies like Donald Trump.”
Graham told the crowd: “I come here as a private citizen, and a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
“There’s nothing like a Trump rally… people stand for hours in line. People leave excited, pumped up.
“However, rallies and positive poll numbers are not going to win this election - it’s going to be God… The only hope for Trump and this country is God.”
Franklin Graham recently told Premier Christian News that he believed Kamala Harris to be “almost anti-Christ in her perspectives.”
He told the 11th Hour Summit that there is a “spiritual element at work” in the election campaign.
“There are dark forces that are against this man,” Graham claimed, “they’ve tried to put him in prison, they’ve tried to assassinate him twice. He’s attacked every day in the media.”
He ended his five-minute appearance by leading the crowd in two minutes of spoken prayer, where he encouraged attendees to pray for the nation.
To conclude, Graham prayed aloud: "If it be God's will, may Donald Trump win this election." Rapturous applause ensued.
Kamala Harris has also been courting the Christian vote.
At the weekend, she spoke at a church in Georgia, highlighting Christian values of helping one’s neighbour.
“When we come across our brothers and sisters in need, let us, as the Good Samaritan, did see in the face of a stranger, a neighbour, and let us recognize that when we shine the light in moments of darkness, it will guide our feet into the path of peace,” she said.
She asked the crowd: “What kind of country do we want to live in – a country of chaos, fear and hate, or a country of freedom, compassion and justice?”
