Franklin Graham draws massive crowd at UK gospel event

by Lydia Davies

More than 17,000 people flocked to ExCeL London on Saturday, June 21, to hear Rev. Franklin Graham preach the Gospel—while thousands more had to be turned away at the door.

The God Loves You Tour, hosted by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, reached full capacity despite organizers increasing seating to 15,000.

Those unable to enter reportedly responded with spontaneous worship and singing outside the venue.

Inside, worship led by CeCe Winans, Michael W. Smith, and The Afters stirred the crowd—many of them young people from across the U.K.

“Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,” the young people chanted before Graham took the stage.

Referencing global unrest, Graham told the crowd: “Since I last preached here in London two years ago, the world seems to be one step closer to Armageddon... Many people feel hopeless.”

He added, “You can come to the One who can turn that around, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Hundreds responded to the Gospel invitation, including a 16-year-old girl who said, “Everybody is hungry for God in my generation right now, and He is moving.”
