Franklin Graham defends Piers Morgan over Meghan and Harry interview

by Chantalle Edmunds

U.S. Evangelist Franklin Graham has defended former Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan in light of his departure from Good Morning Britain.

On March 30, which happened to be Morgan's 56th birthday, Graham took to Twitter posting a BBC article from earlier in the month with a Tweet that stated: "TV host @PiersMorgan has had to leave Good Morning Britain (@GMB) after the show received complaints over his remarks about Meghan & Prince Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey."

In a thread, Graham went on to say that he'd found his own interview with Morgan to be "fair, honest & respectful" and referenced concerns over free speech.

"I’ve been interviewed by @PiersMorgan, & although we wouldn’t agree on some issues, he was always fair, honest, & respectful. I share his concern about the attack on free speech that’s happening today. He said, 'freedom of speech is a hill I'm happy to die on.' I respect that."

Graham went on to state: "I will continue proclaiming the truth—that Jesus Christ is “the Way, the Truth, & the Life”—no matter how unpopular it may be. Ultimately, every knee will bow & every tongue confess that He is Lord. He won’t be canceled!"

Morgan left the ITV programme on 10 March in a row over comments he made about the Duchess of Sussex. ITV announced the decision after Ofcom said it had received 41,000 complaints and was investigating.

The 56-year-old caused controversy when he said on the show he "didn't believe a word" the duchess had told Oprah Winfrey about her mental health during the couple's sit-down interview.

The host had presented Good Morning Britain for six years.
