Worship artist Forrest Frank has said he will decline any future awards for his music, as the only trophy he wants is salvation.
The ‘Your Way’s Better’ singer said he wanted to distinguish his metrics of success from “worldly” goals.
He had been expected to attend the GMA Dove Awards on 7th October, but instead shared a video with fans on social media explaining his absence.
“Had a lot of people asking where I was today,” he explained from the front seat of his car.
“As Christians, it’s hard to know where the line in the sand is between being in the world, but not of the world?”
“I dress like the world, my music sounds kind of like the world,” Frank continued.
“The line I can draw is that I will not receive a trophy for something that is from Jesus, and for Jesus.”
He shared that previous accolades had made him feel spiritually conflicted: “I was wrestling with this even last year on stage at the (GMA) Dove Awards.”
Frank took home two Doves in 2024; New Artist of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Song of the Year for Good Day.
He was also nominated for a Grammy in 2025, for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.
“I want to be an inspiration to the youth,” said the singer. “The trophy is our salvation. The trophy is that my name is written in the book of life. What good is a piece of metal going to do, compared to that?”
