A former President of the Methodist Conference has pleaded not guilty to multiple sexual offences.

Steven Wild appeared at Truro Crown Court charged with eleven offences alleged to have been carried out between 2004 and 2019. The ten charges of sexual assault and one of indecent assault relate to a number of women.

Setting a trial date for 2 November 2026, Judge James Adkin said the delay was due to a backlog of cases. The trial is expected to last three weeks.

71 year old Wild, who was chair of Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Methodist Circuit from 2008 until 2022, was a popular and charismatic minister across the south-west. He served as Methodist Conference President for 12 months in 2015.

A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for 18 September 2026.
