A North Texas family is mourning the loss of Martin "Tiger" Bech Jr, 27, who tragically lost his life in the recent New Orleans attack.
Local churches in Fort Worth, including New Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church, have been holding prayer gatherings for the Bech family and other victims of the attack.
Congregants have come together in unity, lifting prayers for healing, peace, and comfort in the wake of this tragedy.
According to CBS Texas, Tiger, the brother of TCU wide receiver Jack Bech, was a former standout football player at Princeton University, where he earned All-Ivy League honours twice before graduating in 2021.
Tiger had been visiting New Orleans with his family and best friend, Ryan, to celebrate New Year's Eve.
After sharing a family dinner, his parents left Tiger and Ryan to enjoy the festivities in the city.
In the early hours of New Year’s Day, an attacker drove a pickup truck into a crowd in New Orleans' French Quarters.
Tiger sustained severe injuries, and despite extensive efforts from medical staff, he passed away.
His best friend, Ryan, survived with less severe injuries.
"They worked on him so hard and tried for so long," Tiger's father, Martin Bech Sr shared. "Unfortunately, they weren’t able to save him."
According to the outlet, the Bech family, anchored in their Christian faith, is finding strength and comfort in prayer.
"There are 14 other families who have lost loved ones and many others still wounded," said Bech Sr. "We continue to pray for them and trust that the Lord holds them in His hands."
Tiger Bech had recently begun a promising career with a Wall Street trading firm in New York City.
The Bech family asks for continued prayers as they and others affected by the tragedy navigate this season of grief, trusting in God’s presence and the power of collective prayer.
