American pastor, author and broadcaster Dr Tony Evans has married his fiancée, three months after announcing their engagement.
Dr Evans, senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, in Dallas, Texas, and Dr Carla Crummie married during a private ceremony surrounded by family and close friends.
The church announced the news on Facebook, stating that it brought the church great joy to see their pastor blessed “in this beautiful way”.
The widower, who lost first wife, Lois, to a rare form of cancer just before the Covid pandemic, had announced in September that had met someone who had “walked a similar path”. In a strange twist, Dr Crummie’s husband died on the way to the funeral of Dr Evans’ wife. Both Dr Evans and Dr Crummie also both lost a parent within a short time of losing their respective spouses.
Lois Evans, Dr Evans' first wife, was married to him for nearly five decades. She was the co-founder and senior vice president of The Urban Alternative, a Christian broadcast and teaching ministry which airs on Premier Christian Radio and on more than 1,200 radio stations in over 130 different countries.
Dr Evans announced his engagement to Dr Crummie on stage at his church, accompanied by family members. He and Lois had four children together.
The announcement from Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship said: “Marriage is a blessing from God, and it brings us great joy to see our pastor blessed in this beautiful way.
“After entering into their union in a private ceremony surrounded by family and close friends, the couple is excited to continue serving the Lord together, supported by faith, love, and the prayers of our church family.”
