Dozens of students baptised on campus by football players

by Lydia Davies

A revival event took place on the Ohio State University campus, drawing hundreds of attendees and resulting in dozens of baptisms.

Held on Sunday 25th August, the event was organised by various Christian student groups from the university and featured several members of the OSU football team leading worship.

Approximately 60 students were baptised by the college football players during the gathering, according to The Lantern, OSU’s student newspaper.

Ohio State football players Emeka Egbuka, Gee Scott, J.T. Tuimoloau and Kamryn Babb baptised the students.

While reports varied on attendance, an OSU faculty member involved in the event estimated the crowd to be around 2,000.

The faculty member described the experience as "amazing," noting that the football players shared their faith with "heartfelt vulnerability" in this “very vulnerable and very moving" event.

Following the testimonies, an altar call led to spontaneous baptisms.

Attendees who wished to be baptised were immersed in water-filled tubs typically used for ice baths by the football team.

After the baptisms, organisers collected contact information from the new believers and connected them with on-campus Christian student groups. Participants were given further explanations of the Gospel and insights into discipleship.
