Diana Wright's speaking after Mars Foods urged caution about some of the Dolmio and Uncle Ben's sauce ranges which it owns.
Examples include Dolmio creamy white lasagne sauce, Dolmio classic basil pesto, and Dolmio macaroni and cheese oven bake kit.
Mars Foods has said only around 5% of its range would be relabelled 'occasional' products that they recommend should only be eaten once a week.
As part of its new drive to encourage healthier eating, it said on its website: "To maintain the authentic nature of the recipe, some Mars Food products are higher in salt, added sugar or fat.
"As these products are not intended to be eaten daily, Mars Food will provide guidance to consumers on-pack and on its website regarding how often these meal offerings should be consumed within a balanced diet.
"The Mars Food website will be updated within the next few months with a list of "occasional" products - those to be enjoyed once per week.
Diana Wright told Premier's News Hour: "I'm really impressed, and actually I would recommend their products just because of that to be honest.
"It's all part of a whole lifestyle change that we have to think about.
"30 years ago, it was really at the beginning of when foods that were being developed for quick fixes.
"It's just gone too far now.
"But the good thing is this company has been honest, and it obviously does care about its customer."
