The Gospel Music Association (GMA) has announced this year's nominees for the Dove Awards 2022 during a livestream event on its YouTube and Facebook pages.
Music collective Maverick City Music, We the Kingdom, CeCe Winans are all competing to win artist of the year for the first time.
King + Country, which won Artist of the Year at the GMA Dove Awards in 2020 and 2021, has been nominated again in the same category. The Australian duo could become the first act to win the category for three conservative years.
Zach Williams has also been nominated for artist of the year. He won in that category in 2018.
Eleven songs are vying for song of the year, including "Jireh" written and produced by Chris Brown, Steven Furtick, Chandler Moore, Naomi Raine, "Promises" by Keila Alvarado, Joe L. Barnes, Dante Bowe, Phillip Carrington Gaines, Lemuel Marin, Aaron Moses and "Hold on to Me" by Lauren Daigle, Paul Duncan, Paul Mabury.
Dolly Parton and Carrie Underwood have been nominated in Best Bluegrass/Country/Roots Recorded Song of the Year for their songs "In the Sweet By and By" and "All Is Well" respectively.
Hillsong, Bethel Music, Elevation Worship, Brooke Ligertwood and Phil Wickham have all been nominated in the worship of the year category.
The 53rd edition of the GMA Dove Awards will take place on 18th October in Nashville, US.
