The eldest daughter of US megachurch pastor Ed Young has died aged 34. LeeBeth Young passed away on Monday night, according to a social media post by her father.
"It is with great sadness that I write these words. Last night, our precious and cherished daughter LeeBeth passed away," said Pastor Ed, who leads Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas. "She was our firstborn, and we celebrate her life. LeeBeth was a bright, intelligent, strong, creative, witty, and faithful young woman. We love our daughter, and she loved the Lord."
Young did not reveal the cause of death, but said he was assured that LeeBeth was now "healed and whole" with God.
"Because of her relationship with Jesus, she is now healed and whole in His presence," he wrote. "We ask that you pray for our family, our church, and so many others who loved LeeBeth deeply."
Many from the evangelical community responded to Young's announcement on Twitter. Kay Warren, a mental health advocate and wife to pastor Rick Warren, replied: "Tears .... so very sorry for the loss of your beloved girl. Standing with you, holding your hearts in ours. Here for your family if we can be strong shoulders to lean on."
The Warren's lost their 27-year-old son Matthew to suicide back in 2013.
Preacher and author Beth Moore replied to Young: "I am so, so sorry. May God make his nearness so obvious. You are deeply loved."
"My deepest condolences to your amazing family," added worship artist Israel Houghton. "Praying that the God of all comfort supernaturally surround you with His peace."
On Instagram, LeeBeth often spoke of her Dad and how close they were. "He is the most genuine/humble people you will ever meet," she wrote in one post. "I am so blessed God let me be his daughter."
A celebration of life service in honour of LeeBeth is scheduled to take place at Fellowship Church on Saturday.
