Thousands of fans braved stormy weather and lightning delays to watch Dante Bowe perform with Maverick City Music at Disney World’s EPCOT American Gardens Theatre, marking his return to the worship collective after nearly three years away.
Bowe was released from the group in 2022 due to behavior described as “inconsistent with our core values and beliefs.” At the time, the group announced they had decided to “pause” their relationship with the singer. Bowe later issued an apology on Instagram, which was deleted a week later.
Now, it has been confirmed that Bowe has rejoined the Grammy Award-winning group on tour. A video posted to his social media shows him performing on stage with the band, prompting messages of support from fans.
“God is so good. Shoutout to everyone who prayed for this reconciliation instead of engaging with gossip,” one fan wrote. Another commented, “Is this for real??? Dante Bowe... for real... my God is forever doing great things... I am soooooooo happy right NOW!!!! Lord, I give you praise and thanksgiving for this precious young man. Welcome home, son.”
Since rejoining, Bowe has participated in multiple performances with the collective. In a more recent video, he is seen in a photo studio working on something with the group, sparking further excitement. “Can’t wait!!! Our God is a God of reconciliation!” one comment read.
Maverick City Music, founded in 2018, rose to prominence with songs such as Promises, Jireh, and Man of Your Word. The group became known for uniting diverse voices across the Christian tradition and gained significant momentum during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their work has earned multiple Dove Awards and five Grammy Awards, including Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. The collective is also recognized for its collaborations with gospel, worship, and mainstream artists, often blending genres while staying rooted in themes of faith and justice.
In October 2024, the group faced criticism after appearing on Rain Down on Me, a track from rapper GloRilla’s album Glorious, alongside Kirk Franklin, Chandler Moore, and Kierra Sheard. The song was the only track on the 15-song album without explicit or inappropriate lyrics.
Reactions were mixed. “Maverick City is featured on a song with GloRilla???? What an embarrassment for the Christian music industry. Come quickly, Lord,” one listener wrote. Another added, “These 'Christian' gospel artists need to stop compromising. There are plenty of ways to reach souls. Kirk Franklin, Kierra Sheard & Maverick City Music being on GloRilla's album is wild. God come get us.”
Others praised the collaboration. “It’s a great song. Time to stop judging people,” one fan commented.
