Former pastor John-Paul Miller, 46, has pleaded not guilty to federal criminal charges related to cyberstalking and making false statements to federal investigators.

Miller was first indicted in December and accused of harassing his wife before her death and then lying to police about it, according to The Roys Report (TRR). 

In the indictment obtained by WMBF News, Miller is accused of sending unwanted and harassing communication to his ex-wife, Mica Miller, from November 2022 until her death on April 27, 2024. Police say some of the harassing behavior included posting a nude photo of Mica online without her consent, adding tracking devices on her vehicle, and, in one instance, contacting her more than 50 times in a single day. 

The indictment said Miller also interfered with her finances and daily activities. In one incident, officers said he damaged Mica's vehicle's tires. 

When questioned by authorities, Miller said he hired a private investigator to protect Mica from purchasing firearms. However, authorities claim he actually hired the private investigator to cyberstalk her over alleged adultery. Miller said he did not damage Mica's tires, but the indictment alleges he purchased a tire deflation device online and sent messages to other people about her vehicle. 

The former Solid Rock Church pastor in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and his congregation were the target of protests following reports that he had a direct role in Mica's death, ruled a suicide, in April 2024.  

Miller waived his right to a speedy trial and was released on a $100,000 unsecured bond. The judge ruled that he must wear an ankle monitor and is not permitted to leave South Carolina as part of his bond conditions. He is also not to contact potential witnesses or anyone in Mica's family.
