"Church will do something" for Taiwan victims, says worshipper

by Aaron James

Li Liathan, a Filipino worshipper at Taipei International Church in the north of the country, also said in times of tragedy the "Church always supports in this matter".

She was speaking after a coloured powder sprayed on crowds at a concert at a waterpark in New Taipei City caught light, causing severe burns. A ball of fire ripped through the crowd of 1000 people, according to reports.

180 are in intensive care, with 500 injured in total. Authorities say some suffered internal burns when they inhaled the flaming powder.

Inflatable rubber dinghies were used to carry casualties away, or used as makeshift beds to treat the injured.

Li Liathan told Premier: "I hope that somebody, or the Church, can do something about it and donate something for the accident and all the victims there. That's all I can say for the message [to them].

"I think the church will do something for that. They can help. Church always supports in this matter... fire victims or flood victims. We do.

"As much as possible we pray for them; that's the most important thing."
