Israel claims the village sits on state land and wants to move its 191 inhabitants to another village.
The Times of Israel has reported that the villagers are refusing to move there, saying the site is near a dump and in an urban environment where their animals cannot graze and that livestock is their main source of income.
The villagers filed a petition eleven days ago and opened their local school a few months early to try to prevent the destruction.
In response to the planned demolition of the Bedouin village by the Israeli Government, Bishop Declan Lang, chair of the Holy Land Co-ordination and Bishop Christopher Chessun, Anglican Bishop of Southwark said:
"Earlier today we met with the Minister for the Middle East at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and shared our deep concern about the planned demolition of Khan al-Ahmar.
"If the demolition goes ahead this would not only violate the rights of those families living in the village, but would also deal a critical blow to hopes of a viable Palestinian State.
"Our churches are committed to upholding the human dignity of all in the Holy Land and promoting a peaceful two-state solution. We therefore stand in solidarity with the residents of Khan al-Ahmar and call on our government to use every diplomatic means at its disposal to prevent the Israeli authorities from destroying their homes."
