Christian welcomes new Wi-Fi scheme

From today cafes, shops, hotels and restaurants will be able to apply for "friendly Wi-Fi" accreditation if their internet meets a level of filtering to block harmful sites.

Vivienne Pattison is a Christian and Director of Media Watch UK, speaking to Premier she said: "Now that we have a clean feed in public Wi-Fi I think that can only help to protect children.

"Of course it's only half the solution because although it's going to be blocking material that's still out there - there are other dangers which lurk on the net."

Fears that children are increasingly exposed to online pornography have prompted a huge campaign to try and protect young people whilst they use the internet.

Earlier this year the Commons culture, media and sport committee said there wasn't enough protection for children using the internet.
