As the crowdfunded Christian show The Chosen begins filming its third season, the producers offer a chance to make a cameo for a price.
The Chosen is a crowdfunded Christian television show whose first two seasons have had a massive turnout and attention from people worldwide. The first season alone estimates that it has been viewed 100 million times. The first season also raised $11 million for filming and currently broadcasts on AngelTV or on Youtube.
As the program prepares to film its third season, it is offering fans a chance to appear in the program. During a livestream, producer Dallas Jenkins provided fans the opportunity to appear in the program, albeit at a cost. "The feeding of the 5,000 is not only one of the signature moments of the gospels, it is one of the signature moments in the life of the show," Dallas Jenkins explained. "Just like the Sermon on the Mount but with a few things different this time around, if you pay it forward at the level of $999.99 or more, that qualifies you to come to the feeding of the five thousand." Jenkins' company, Fish and Loaves, would follow up with any donors to see if this opportunity interested them. If members wanted to bring family or friends, they would allow them to do so for an additional $100 a person.
Jenkins does anticipate having to cap the number of people allowed to appear in the program, noting that "If we made it possible for anyone to come to the feeding of the 5,000, we would probably have 20,000 people show up, and we just can't do that."
Jenkins' goal with The Chosen is to film seven seasons of the show covering Christ's life and the ministry of the saints, all while not charging a thing for people to view the program.
The show made news earlier this year when the company attracted several thousand extras to appear at the company's filming of the Sermon on the Mountin Utah.
The third season of The Chosen is anticipated to premiere in March 2022.
