The two-time Grammy-nominated artist explained to her 210,000 followers that she's wanted to have a public wedding since she was 19 and her "singlehood" sparked the idea.
I realizes that for whatever reason, my singlehood was becoming a conversation. People had a lot of questions as to how/why i hadn't had a boyfriend. Or i was asked if my love songs were about a guy i was keeping a secret, cause certainly i couldn't be that giddy about Jesus

The "Hold Me" singer said she started answering questions about being single in videos, blogs and a podcast and also shared about her desire to be married, which in turn inspired many girls to keep their virginity for marriage.
I've always known that this has nothing to do with me. While I'm honored to be an inspiration to some, I'm merely a vessel God has chosen to use to show what He can do with a broken human and willing heart and i want to honor the platform I've been given.

Hint: a public wedding.
She added: "I want to show little girls what He [God] can do. I want to show young women the start of a love story that's graced by the greatest love story. I want to celebrate with my fans who have seen my joy in singlehood and tears in loneliness through my songs, videos and Snapchat rants."
The 26-year-old said she was nervous about telling her fiance that she wanted a public wedding, in fear that she would overwhelm him and told him he didn't have to agree. However, she said he supported her desire, saying it would be a way to share her "testimony".
He was quiet for a moment, then he looked at me and said, "You have shared so much about being single and it's led to this. This is your testimony. And i want to share this with you."
