U.S Christian singer-songwriter Natalie Grant has asked for prayers after a serious slip and fall accident left her in hospital.
In a social media post on Saturday, the Grammy-nominated artist revealed that she suffered a bleeding kidney, a blood clot in the bladder and has undergone surgery after slipping on the “sidewalk” while helping her daughter move out of university.
Grant said: “I tripped on a sidewalk and took a hard fall [...] Basically I WIPED OUT.
“What I thought might be a fractured rib turned into a hospital stay, a serious internal situation with a bleeding kidney, a blood clot in my bladder and surgery this morning to fix it all.”
She described the incident that took place on Thursday 30th April as “scary” but thanked God for the medical staff caring for her.
“Thank you Jesus, it went well today, I’m on the mend and will make a full recovery. Thanking God for incredible doctors, nurses, and hospital staff at Lakeland Regional Health who moved quickly, cared deeply, and got me through a pretty scary situation,” she added.
The contemporary Christian singer from Nashville concluded: "I sure would appreciate your prayers for a quick recovery," later urging her fans to "hug your people. Slow down. And maybe...watch where you're walking".
Grant shared a photo of herself in a hospital bed along with the health update, assuring fans that the surgery had been successful.
She also expressed gratitude to her husband Bernie Herms "for caring for me in a way only you can".
Other Christian figures showed their support for the singer, with fellow Christian singer Cece Winans commenting: "I'm so grateful you're okay. Love you".
On Monday, Grant posted that she had returned home safely, adding: "There is something so powerful about the family of God".
