On Sunday 9th February, the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Alongside the much-anticipated game, the event will showcase an impressive lineup of musical performances.
Kendrick Lamar, fresh off multiple Grammy wins, is set to headline the halftime show, while pop superstar Taylor Swift is expected to be in attendance, cheering on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
Ahead of the game, Lauren Daigle, a two-time Grammy-winning Christian artist, will perform America the Beautiful alongside Trombone Shorty.
Raised in Louisiana, Daigle has built a highly successful career in contemporary Christian music, earning Platinum-certified hits and numerous accolades.
However, performing at the Super Bowl, one of the most-watched television events globally, marks a major milestone in her career.
Speaking about the opportunity, she told USA Today: “To be able to offer a sound of hope for people in this city, to sing out over the city and from the city into the rest of the world, is going to be one of my favorite things, maybe ever.”
Like many Christian artists who have gained mainstream recognition, Daigle has faced scrutiny over the years. A 2018 iHeart Radio interview, where she responded with uncertainty when asked whether homosexuality is a sin, has been a frequent point of debate.
“I can’t say one way or the other. I’m not God,” she stated at the time.
This comment, along with analysis of her lyrics and public statements, has sparked ongoing discussions about the authenticity of her faith.
Despite the criticism, Daigle remains committed to using her platform for good.
Leading up to the Super Bowl, she partnered with New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis for Super Bowl LIX Night of Freedom, an event focused on music, worship, and raising awareness about human trafficking.
