Christian rapper jailed for 18 years

by Antony Bushfield

Ryan Salandy, 26, deliberately hit music producer William McDaniel with his car near Germantown in Maryland, United States.

The rapper, who performs as Ry Money, became angry at Mr McDaniel because he had failed to provide a number of CDs the murderer had paid for.

Montgomery County Court heard how Salandy drove his car at high speed in September 2015. The intensity of the collision broke every bone in Mr McDaniel's legs.

He had drove off after an argument with Mr McDaniel but later turned his car around and killed the man before fleeing the scene.

Salandy's mother made the 911 call after he told her he had accidentally hit someone. The court has released the call.

In court Judge Anne K. Albright sentenced him to 30 years in jail with 12 suspended meaning a prison term of 18 years. He will be eligible for parole in nine years.

Police say Salandy was arrested at his home and remained calm when he was detained. Officers say he never asked why he was being arrested and did not ask about his victim's condition until six hours later.
