Christian man accused of killing his daughter because of Muslim boyfriend

by Tola Mbakwe

According to the Jerusalem Post, 17 year old Henriette Karra was found stabbed to death in her family home on 13th June after she planned to convert to Islam once her boyfriend got released from prison.

It's been reported her father, 58 year old Sami Karra, mother, Aliham and uncle were all arrested for plotting her murder which came after weeks of fighting over her romance.

The local newspaper reported that court records show the teenager fled her home frightened for her life after she was threatened and beaten by her father just weeks before she was found dead.

Reports revealed her panicked text messages to friends.

One of them read: "You won't believe what they did to me. They are sending people to kill me.

"They are searching for me in every possible place. You don't understand what fear this is. I don't believe I have the strength to stand on my feet and run away."

Henriette's family tracked her down at her boyfriend's mother's home and forced her to go back with them.

According to Israeli news site Haaratz, which has seen the indictment, a conversation between the two parents was recorded by the police the night before the murder.

Henriette's mother asked her husband why he let their daughter go to a graduation party.

He said: "Forget about her, let her go to hell, it's not worth another shekel to even chase after her, she's garbage. We need to whip her, throw her away like a dog and see how she does. She's already gone, I'm sick of her and you."

The newsoutlet reported on the day of the murder, Henriette deposited 400 shekels in her boyfriend's prison canteen account.

When she got home she told a family relative that she would convert to Islam once her boyfirend finished serving his time. Then a relative contacted Henriette's father and told him of her plans. According to the indictment, that's when Henriette's father decided to murder her.

Haaratz said in the course of the investigation, Henriette's mother told the police her husband felt humiliated by his daughter's behavior and saw it as an affront to the family's honor.
