Christian eyewitness speaks after Guatemala mudslide kills at least 26

by Aaron James

Dulce del Carmen Lavarenzo Pu, 28, had just come home from church when the mudslide surged just 150 feet from her home in Cambray, a neighbourhood around ten miles away from the country's capital, Guatemala City.

Mrs Pu said: "I heard this terrible noise and everything began to shake."

"Everything went black, because the lights went out."

Heavy rain caused a hillside to collapse, burying dozens of buildings with mud and trees. Two babies are among the 26 killed.

Up to 600 people are still missing.

One man was pulled from the rubble of his former home 15 hours after the mudslide struck.

Emergency services in Guatemala, a country in central America, are still undertaking searches.
