Pastor and bestselling author Max Lucado has reported that he has tested positive for Covid-19 despite receiving a full vaccination against the virus.
The author posted a tweet on Sunday featuring a picture of a positive Covid test.
Max Lucado is a teaching minister at Oaks Hill Church in San Antonio, Texas. He has written more than 30 books, including How Happiness Happens: Finding Lasting Joy in a World of Comparison, Disappointment, and Unmet Expectations, published in 2019.
Groan. Covid found me. Tested positive yesterday. Was planning to preach today @oakhillschurch and go with some guys on epic golf trip to Ireland tomorrow. Turns out it's me in a downstairs room with aches, stuffy head and quarantine.

Despite the infection, Lucado expressed his thankfulness for his situation in follow-up tweets: "Still- there is reason for thanks. Good docs. Amazing wife. I'm at home instead of a hotel. My dog likes me. Though miserable, the misery would have been worse with no vaccination. So doing my best to count blessings." He then reached out to his 1.3 million followers and asked if they needed any prayer in the meantime.
With increasing reports of the spread of the Delta variant, several people have reported catching the virus despite having been vaccinated. Infections continue to grow, with 65,000 cases of "breakthrough infections" in the United States reported last week.
