A series of offensive messages were left at the mansion in West Harptree in Somerset while the Rees-Mogg family were on holiday in the US.
Pictures on The Sun's website show condoms placed on the family's garden cross, "scum" sprayed on the side of Mr Rees-Mogg's wife Helena's car and "posh scum" written on windows of the house.
Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed that they are investigating a report of criminal damage.
A picture posted by the MP on Instagram on 1st August revealed he wasn't in the country as it showed him and some of his family at the top of the Empire State Building in New York.
Reacting to the vandalism, Mr Rees-Mogg told The Sun: 'It appears to be someone who can't hold their drink - and probably not Catholic.
"However, it has all been cleared up so this drunken protest will not even have a short-term effect."
