Myanmar's Cardinal has criticised China for its handling of the coronavirus outbreak and called for a global apology for the "lies and propaganda" that have "put millions of lives around the world in danger".
As the pandemic has escalated it's been reported that the country had hidden the true scale of outbreak and the numbers of people infected there.
Cardinal Charles Bo, Archbishop of Yangon, says the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime should offer nations compensation for the damage caused by the pandemic.
The CCP has been in sole control of the country's government since the People's Republic of China was established in 1949.
"There is one government that has primary responsibility for what it has done and what it has failed to do, and that is the CCP regime in Beijing." he told UCANews.
Cardinal Bo argues that due to the CCP's "criminal negligence and repression" of the crisis and the threat it has posed to the international community, the debts of other countries should be "written off" by the regime "as a minimum" to cover the cost of Covid-19.
"The Chinese regime owes us all an apology and compensation for the destruction it has caused.
"For the sake of our common humanity, we must not be afraid to hold this regime to account," Cardinal Bo, who is also President of the Federation of Asian Bishops Conferences, added.
