Candace Owens converts to Catholicism and calls it her 'home'

by Lydia Davies

Candace Owens, a US political commentator and media figure, has announced her conversion to Catholicism.

Revealing her spiritual journey on social media, Owens said she had made the decision to "go home".

"There is, of course, so much more that went into this decision and that I plan to share in the future. But for now, praise be to God for His gentle, but relentless, guiding of my heart towards Truth," she added.

Her conversion was publicly shared through a photograph featuring her in a baptismal gown alongside the Very Rev Julian Large at the Brompton Oratory in London.

George Farmer, Owens's husband who had previously converted to Catholicism himself, reflected on the influence of their relationship on his faith. He told The Catholic Herald: "My spiritual life did not really pick up again for quite a few years and basically until I met Candace."

He described their life together as a leap of faith that led them to Nashville with their three children, calling it a "very happy marriage".

Owens has been increasingly vocal about her faith on social media. Last year, she hosted a debate on her YouTube channel about Catholic and Protestant differences, with over three million subscribers tuning in.
