Canadian pastor chases police out of church during an Easter service

A video of a Canadian pastor confronting police officers during a Passover service in the church has gone viral.

Pastor Artur Pawlowski, from the Cave of Adullam Church in Alberta, Canada, posted a video on social media saying police officers wanted to "intimidate the church parishioners during the Passover celebration".

In the footage, Pastor Pawlowski can be heard yelling at several officers standing at the entrance of the building referring to them as "Nazis" and "Gestapo".

"I don't want to hear a word - out of this property immediately until you come back with a warrant out, out, out and don't come back," Pastor Pawlowski shouted.

"Out, out, Gestapo is not allowed here. Immediately. Gestapo is not allowed please leave. Do you understand the English? Get out of this property. Go. Go and don't come back without a warrant. Out Nazi Out."

In a statement, Calgary Police said they were attending the building after receiving a call warning that the church service was not following Covid-19 restrictions.

"The concern was that the people in attendance were not adhering to the government's Covid-19 public health orders, which are in place to ensure everyone's safety," the statement reads.

"The organiser of the gathering was uncooperative with the health inspector, and repeatedly raised his voice asking all parties to leave the premises, which they did approximately a minute after entry and in a peaceful manner".

Several US politicians and church leaders have supported Pastor's Pawlowski reaction, including US evangelist Franklin Graham who tweeted "I don't know who this pastor is, but I kinda like him! I appreciate his boldness and tenacity in standing up for the rights of his church when police showed up without a search warrant."

No fines were issued at the time.
