A pastor dubbed the ‘Bling Bishop’ is suing a radio host after she claimed he was "hiding drug money".

Bishop Lamar Whitehead, of Brooklyn, made headlines earlier this year after he was robbed at gunpoint whilst leading a sermon.

The thieves took $1 million (£830,000) in jewellery alone.

It raised questions about the finances of the bishop, who also works in real estate.

However, one radio host may have landed herself in hot water after suggesting the 44-year-old bishop was a "drug dealer" and a "scammer."

The comments were made in September, after Bishop Whitehead was arrested for "attacking" a woman during a service.

He was later released without charge, and says he believed the woman was threatening him, and that his actions were in response to the previous attack he had experienced.

Bishop Whitehead is now suing Tarsha Nicole Jones, her employer Paramount Global and 94.7 FM, for $50m, claiming she has damaged his reputation.

There is no evidence to suggest the allegations were true, or that Bishop Whitehead is involved in criminal activity.

The lawsuit reads: "'Miss Jones' statements were made in a grossly irresponsible manner without regard for truth. As a result Miss Jones' acts, [Whitehead] lost business deals, church members, and income."

The lawsuit was submitted to the New York Supreme Court by attorney Brian Ponder.
