Black Christian rapper prays with white police officer in USA

by Hannah Tooley

The video shows Christian rapper I AM BURKE praying with a police officer after a chance meeting in a car park.

The rapper walks up to the officer and asks if the pair can pray together, saying the solution to ongoing problems with race and police in America is faith.

He posted on his Facebook page next to the video: "Right after my last post this officer pulled up and my heart dropped due to all the chaos going on, but God has not given us a spirit of fear.

"After talking car business as he walked off I felt led to pray for him.

"I understand that the only solution to America's problem is Jesus.

"Jesus needs to be in the hearts of the men on both sides of the gun."

There have been rising tensions in the USA following the death of more black citizens at the hands of police officers.

Most recently Philando Castile was killed in Minnesota and Alton Sterling was killed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Last week five white police officers were killed by a gunman at a Black Lives Matter march in Dallas, Texas.

President Barack Obama paid tribute to the officers killed and insisted that racial discrimination still existed in the USA.

He said protesters against police violence could not be dismissed as "troublemakers or paranoid," but added that the targeted killings were a "vicious, calculated and despicable attack on law enforcement."
