American Bishop Michael Curry who delivered a memorable sermon on the 'power of love' at Harry and Meghan's wedding in 2018 has reached out to the couple after they announced they will no longer be working members of the Royal Family as of spring this year.
The head of the Episcopal Church, is offering "pastoral care" to the couple "as they forge lives across the pond", according to The Sunday Times.
On Saturday Buckingham Palace announced the couple will no longer formally represent the Queen and Prince Harry and Meghan will no longer use their HRH titles and will not receive public funds for royal duties.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex intend to repay £2.4m of taxpayer money for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home, the statement added.
The Queen said following "many months of conversations and more recent discussions" she was "pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family".
"Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family," the statement continued.
She thanked them for their "dedicated work", adding that she was "particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family."
According to The Sunday Times Bishop Michael is understood to have made contact with the Sussexes to offer his support, following their announcement to step down as senior members of the Royal Family.
During Harry and Meghan's wedding ceremony sermon, Bishop Michael citied civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr., and gave a rousing sermon at the couple's wedding at St. George's Chapel in Windsor.
His 14-minute speech drew smiles and some confused looks from the assembled royals and the couple's celebrity guests, touched on themes of reconciliation and harmony in families: "We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love," Curry said in his sermon, quoting King. "And when we discover that, we will be able to make of this old world a new world, for love is the only way….when love is the way, we actually treat each other well, …like we are actually family." Prescient sentiments now as the couple step away from royal life.
