Bill Bryson reveals Britain's 'most beautiful churches'

The ExploreChurches site aims to  make it easy to discover beautiful and fascinating churches across Britain.

The website brings churches to life by using high quality images and providing information about the history and architecture of individual buildings. More than 1,300 churches are already listed on the site.

Bryson, author of Notes from a Small Island, said: "It is impossible to overstate the importance of churches to this country. 

Among his top picks of historical churches are St Martin's in the Field in London, Durham Cathedral and Hexam Abbey.
