Biden 'thanks God' that Trump assassination attempt was thwarted

by Anna Rees

US President Joe Biden has said he thanks God that a suspected assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life was thwarted.

He told reporters on the White House lawn: “Thank God Trump is okay”.

“There’s one thing I want to make clear. The [security] service needs more help.

“I think Congress should respond to their needs. They may need some more personnel.”

A man is in custody over what appeared to be an 'attempted assassination' at the former President's Florida golf course.

Donald Trump posted on his platform Truth Social:

“I would like to thank everyone for your concern and well wishes - It was certainly an interesting day! Most importantly, I want to thank the U.S. Secret Service… for the incredible job done today at Trump International in keeping me, as the 45th President of the United States, and the Republican Nominee in the upcoming Presidential Election, SAFE. THE JOB DONE WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING. I AM VERY PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!”
