Backlash over group of Christians worshiping on flight

by Alex Collett

A group of Christians who went viral on social media after worshipping on a flight have been criticized by a US congresswoman.

Ilhan Omar, D-Minn, who is Muslim did not agree with the sing along session and took to Twitter to voice her opinion.

She tweeted: "I think my family and I should have a prayer session next time I am on a plane. How do you think it will end?"

Ilhan was suggesting that Christians worshipping on a plane could be offensive to other religions.

The congresswoman received several tweets criticizing her,  including one from another congresswoman -  Lauren Boebert. She tweeted: "Shout out to @IlhanMN, Her anti-Christian hate helped a song praising Jesus to 33 million views over Easter weekend. 'Even the rocks will cry out.' "

To which Ilhan responded: "Anti-Christian hate?

"You need to stop projecting your bigotry.

"Religious bigots like you always think others hold the same hate they have in their hearts.

"It's Ramadan and I am gonna pray for y'all. May God cleanse your hearts."

The video was posted by Jack Jensz Jr., who runs a Christian organisation in the US city of Philadelphia, on Easter Sunday.

Many other people, including Christians, took to Twitter to voice their opinion.

A Twitter user called Jenna Zeuq said: "I’m Christian and this is incredibly annoying.

"People are working, sleeping, watching a movie, listening to their own music, or reading.

"These people said nope, pay attention to me.

Some people were in favour of the performance, including a number of congressmen, such as Vernon Jones. He tweeted: "Why do you hate Christians, Ilhan?

"If the freedom of religion we enjoy here in America disturbs you, feel free to pack your bags and head back to Somalia, Sudan, or wherever you’re from.

"Take your brother with you."
