A man has been arrested and five others detained following the fatal shooting of a woman outside a church in Brent, London, on 14th December 2024.

Michelle Sadio, 44, was attending a wake at the River of Life Elim Pentecostal Church in Harlesden when a gunman fired shots into a crowd that included children.

The wake was in memory of Dianne Boatong, who had recently passed away.

The shooting occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. when a dark-colored Kia vehicle stopped on Gifford Road and fired several shots into the crowd before fleeing.

Sadio was killed in the attack, while Kenneth Amoa was shot in the back and Kadeem Francis was injured in the foot.

Authorities stated children as young as five years old were present at the scene.

The shooting is believed to be related to an ongoing gang dispute between two rival groups, HA9 and Church Road Soldiers.

Police arrested 18-year-old Tahjin Sommersal, who faces charges of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He appeared at the Old Bailey on 15th January 2025 and was remanded in custody. His next hearing is scheduled for 2nd April.

A trial date has been set for October.

In addition to Sommersal's arrest, five other men were detained in connection with the shooting. They are aged between 18 and 33 and remain in custody.

According to My London, Michelle's tragic death has left her family and friends devastated.

Her husband, Jean-Marie, expressed his shock, saying: "How could this have happened? No one has any respect for life anymore."

A close friend remembered Michelle as a devoted mother, saying: "She adored her children and worked hard to give them a happy life. She didn’t deserve this."
