Robert Baxter, pastor of the Good Shepard Church by the Stade de France in Paris told Premier's News Hour that seeing armed police fills the city with fear: "It's not as reassuring as one might think - every time you see a heavily armed person - and it's not police, but the military are out on the street as well.
"Reassuring in one sense, but it's a constant reminder that we are in a state of war."
He was speaking after two suspects were killed in a seven hour siege by police on Wednesday in Paris.
The fate of the alleged mastermind of the Paris terror attacks remains unclear after police raided an apartment where he was suspected to have been holed up.
Is it thought that Abdelhamid Abaaoud, who had previously been thought to be in Syria, was inside the building in Saint Denis, near the Stade de France, when more than 100 officers stormed it.
Two suspects were killed in a seven hour siege.
Robert Baxter told Premier that the people in Paris are praying those responsible are caught: "We've been praying that the police, with God's assistance, would find these terrorists that support and abetted the attackers on Friday night, so this clearly is an answer to pray."
He added that it is never okay to celebrate the death of a terrorist: "As Christians we have to be praying for the salvation of these people's souls and no one wants to see any soul go to hell, if we could just imagine the impact is ISIS members started turning to Christ in great multitudes, the impact it would have on our world today."
