Archbishop Justin Welby questions Meghan Markle about previous marriage

The American actress discussed her previous marriage to Trevor Engelson during an intimate discussion with Most Rev Justin Welby.

Church of England guidelines specify that someone choosing to marry during the lifetime of a former spouse ought to be prepared to talk "frankly" and "honestly" about their past.

Questions include 'What does marriage mean to you?', 'What have you learned from your previous marriage?' and 'Has there been healing of past hurts?'

Markle and Engelson, a film producer, split in 2013, two years after they tied the knot in Jamaica citing irreconcilable difference.

According to the Mail on Sunday, Archbishop Justin held the conversation with Meghan Markle before he baptised the 36-year-old into the Church of England earlier this month.

He is due to officiate at the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on 19th May at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Last month, Archbishop Justin said the Church of England had "dealt with" Meghan Markle's divorce and her wedding to Prince Harry will be "wonderful".
